This three day course will further expand your knowledge of ornamentation by studying period/ geographic specific ornament. In this class you will conduct a series of exercises creating 18th century French ornament. The history and evolution of French ornament will be discussed with emphasis on design, scale, and proportion. The class will also touch on pros and cons for transferring, antiquing, and incorperating gilding. You will be conducting hands-on exercises to further your understanding and techniques with french ornamentation.

Principles of French Ornament 1 1/2 hr
History of French Ornament 1 1/2 hr Techniques to be covered (hands on)
Design and Scaling 1 hr
Transferring 1 hr Painting French Ornament 19 hrs Materials and tools required
