219-C The History of Ornament I It is vital to have a good visual image of ornamentation styles to create rich and exciting cultural and period specific environments. In this one-day class you will start learning about primative ornamentation starting 15,000 years ago and work your way through developmental stages into the fourteenth century. By understanding the historical aspects of ornament, you can utilize period inspiration as well as a keen understanding of the different cultural styles. This will allow you to incorporate and replicate styles for the decorative finish. Plus, the hands-on exercises in this class will help refine your basic ornamentation skills.
