Class title
102-F1 Oil Patina/Glazing INext Class: Fall 2008$350.00Class description
Patina is defined as: a pleasing antiqued surface on something that develops with age or frequent handling. Traditional oil glaze has been used to age many surfaces for hundreds of years. Handmade oil glazes are what all other glazes aspire to be. You may think that oil glazes are not so great and it may be because you are confusing it with commercial oil products. Master decorative painters have used oil for many years. Why? Is it the 1 and ½ hr working time? Is it the water like translucency? It's all of the above. Even with all of the new water soluable technology traditional oil glazes are superior for many applications. There is no such thing as "The best glaze" only the best glaze for the job. You need to know what real oil glazes are all about. In this class you will learn that by using vitamin E and essential oils you can create a look and performance that has been unsurpassed for hundreds of years. The objective of the course is to teach you to understand oil composition; painting with oil; glazing with oil; aging and distressing; wall glazing; repairing and clean up.
